Icelanding movie Aróra, live presentation of Sun and Aurora Hunters – these are the three acts of the spectacular show Aurora produced by the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, which is dedicated to perhaps the most beautiful celestial phenomenon ever.

Act One – Arora does not deny its Icelandic origin. Both visually and musically it is a magical experience that only works from this island of ice and fire can offer. You will learn about the mythological stories that the Nordic peoples used to explain the origin of the aurora borealis, but also the real physical nature of this phenomenon.

In the second part, the guide – an expert from the Brno Observatory and Planetarium – will focus on what is happening on the visible surface of the Sun. This part is in Czech only.

The finale of the show belongs to The Hunters of the Aurora. The production team of the Brno Observatory and Planetarium consisting of Pavel Gabzdyl, Pavel Karas, Roman Ponča and Tomáš Tichý collaborated on the third act. It all started with an expedition earlier this year to Lofoten, a picturesque archipelago in the far north of Norway. The aim of the expedition was to take the best possible images of the aurora borealis for our digitalarium. In the end, however, everything turned out differently…
